Canon 5D Mark III Now Shipping

UPDATE (3/22 3:40pm EDT): Both B&H and Amazon have also begun shipping the 5D3. B&H Photo has immediately available stock of the 5D Mark III kit (ships today) via this link. Supply is limited.

The wait for Canon's 5D Mark III is almost over. Shipping of pre-orders has commenced. Not only this, but retailers are reporting that they should be able to fill these pre-orders with their initial shipments, possibly with remaining stock for those yet to order.

Canon 5D Mark III pre-orders ship

Contrary to early indications around the time of the 5D Mark III's announcement, Canon's supply of the camera is reportedly very strong, allowing those who failed to pre-order the 5D3 to get their hands on the camera with little or no delay. Adorama has notified us that they have begun shipping the 5D Mark III, while other retailers have indicated they expect shipments to arrive shortly.

This is great news for those looking to start using the 5D Mk3 as soon as possible. An improved stock situation means that pre-ordering for the camera remains open, with the DSLR body available from Amazon, B&H Photo, and Adorama for $3,499. The Canon 5D Mark III can also be pre-ordered with a 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens for $4,299 from Amazon, B&H Photo, and Adorama.

The Canon EOS 5D Mark 3 is the highly anticipated successor to the 5D Mark 2. Canon's latest 5D sports a new DIGIC 5+ imaging processor and a full-frame CMOS 22.3 megapixel sensor. A 61-point High Density Reticular Autofocus system and a dust and weather resistant magnesium alloy housing round out the package. In addition to native ISO sensitivity up to 25,600 (expandable to 102,400), the 5D3 supports industry-standard video recording protocols.
