Fujifilm Announces X100S: Claims "World’s Fastest AF"

UPDATE: The Fujifilm X100S is now available for pre-order from Adorama for $1300.

The X100 was well received when it was originally launched 2 years ago, but it was also slammed for its poor autofocus performance. Fujifilm has responded to the criticism by announcing the successor to the X100, the X100S, which purportedly features “the world’s fastest AF".

The X100S boasts an AF speed of just 0.08 seconds (depending on conditions), and the new EXR Processor II delivers processing speeds twice that of previous Fujifilm processors. The X100S is also "the world’s first camera to offer a Digital Split Image," according to the official UK press release. Other features include: An extra high resolution, 2,360K-dot High Definition LCD panel, 8 different artistic effects which can be previewed on the LCD screen, Full HD video recording and a start-up time of 0.5 secs.

The X100S will be officially unveiled at CES, which is takes place January 8-11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas.
