Could the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM really be the sharpest zoom lens Canon has ever made? According to initial test results highlighted by Canon Rumors this appears to be the case. When it comes to resolution, test results show the new zoom even beats the TS-E 24mm prime at 24mm.
Not only is the updated 24-70mm II lighter and more compact, it improves on the first version across the board. Besides stunning sharpness, the lens provides better autofocus, nicer bokeh and a warmer image all around. Unlike its predecessor, the 24-70mm II utilizes 82mm filters and has a different focal length at 70mm.
