Besides stunning sharpness, the lens provides better autofocus, nicer bokeh and a warmer image all around. Unlike its predecessor, the 24-70mm II utilizes 82mm filters and has a different focal length at 70mm.

Canon has announced a updated version of the the popular EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM. The EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II may be smaller than its predecessor, but it offers more durability and is easier to carry due to its compact design. Canon claims the completely redesigned optics provide better clarity and image quality than the original, and that the wide range of optical enhancements will give you an overall improvement in performance.

The EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II's minimum focusing distance of 0.38m allows you to capture your subjects up close, and the two Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) and one Super UD aspheric elements will minimize chromatic aberration and color blurring.
