Nikon D5300 Now Available for Pre-Order

Pre-orders are now being accepted for the affordable Nikon D5300. The Wi-Fi enabled HD-SLR allows users to instantly send photos to their smartphone or tablet. The D5300 is equipped with a 24.2-megapixel image sensor, EXPEED 4 image processor, and a 39-point multi-CAM 4800DX AF sensor. The D5300 also features several special effect modes and in-camera editing features, and it is capable of shooting Full HD 1920 x 1080p video at 60, 30, 25, and 24 fps.

The Nikon D5300 body is available in black, grey and red for $795. The Nikon D5300 with Nikon AFS DX 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens is $1,396, and the D5300 with Nikon AFS DX 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6GED VR lens is $1699.

Pre-Order the Sony a7 or a7R Mirrorless Digital Camera

After several leaks the "world's first full frame mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses" is now available for pre-order. Sony is calling the Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R their biggest announcement ever made. The a7 and a7R are currently the smallest and lightest full frame cameras available on the market. They are also compatible with Sony E-mount lenses previously used with Sony's NEX line of cameras. Sony has also announced five E-mount lenses and promises 15 new lenses will be available by 2015.

The a7 and a7R feature identical form factors, but the a7R has no optical low pass filter and is 36.3-megapixels. The a7 sports a 24.3-megapixel Exmor CMOS sensor and an enhanced Hybrid Autofocus system. Both cameras feature a new BIONX X image processor, a tiltable 3.0-inch Xtra Fine LCD display with 1,229K-dot resolution, and an OLED electronic viewfinder.

The upcoming Sony event scheduled for Wednesday will no doubt reveal two full-frame E-mount cameras, the A7 and A7R. For those who aren't interested in waiting for an official announcement, there have been plenty of rumors circulating. Now decent photos are also in the mix of leaked information. Pictured below is the A7R in all its glory.

If the new cameras trigger memories of the Olympus OM-D, that's because Sony has integrated an electronic viewfinder onto the top of the body. Eye tracking autofocus capability is another highlight. While both models will feature full-frame image sensors, the A7 will clock 24 megapixels with the A7R beating this at 36 megapixels.

Sir Jonathan Ive is best known as the Senior Vice President of Design at Apple, bringing the masses sleek iPhones and iMacs. Now in collaboration with designer Marc Newson, Ive has created a unique take on the Leica M. The one-of-a-kind digital rangefinder for (RED) will be auctioned off at Sotheby's on November 23rd. One can only guess how much it will fetch at auction.

The Pentax K-3 is the first camera to offer a Selectable Anti-Aliasing filter, which replaces the physical filter with a sensor-based anti-aliasing simulator. This increases the effective light sensitivity of the APS-C CMOS image sensor.

Pre-orders are now being accepted for the Zeiss 55mm f/1.4 Otus lens for Canon EF Mount and Nikon F Mount cameras. Even though the lens is more geared towards professional fashion and advertising photgraphers, it is also a decent choice for architectural and landscape photography. It is a standard focal length premium lens which was developed for full-format DSLR camera sensors.

The Otus features a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, a floating element design with 12 elements in 10 groups, and an all-metal focusing mechanism with an extended rotation angle. It was given the Latin name "Otus" for owl because of its "impressive degree of detail even in low light situations," according to Zeiss.

Panasonic GM1: World's Smallest MFT Camera?

Little is known about the upcoming Panasonic GM1, however the camera is set to make waves when it's announced later this month. The new Lumix-branded Micro Four Thirds (MFT) interchangeable lens camera (ILC) will break new ground on not one, but two fronts when released.

Not only will the GM1 be more compact than the G7 pictured above, the GM1 will be the smallest MFT camera in the world. It will also be the first camera of its kind to feature a fully electronic shutter. This design change helps to reduce the size of the camera body, while retaining a 4/3 type image sensor (17.3 mm x 13 mm). The smallest MFT ILC currently on the market is the Pentax Q7, however the sensor on this model is significantly smaller (7.6 mm x 5.7 mm).

Limited stock of the Fujifilm X100S is now available from B&H. The X100S improves upon Fuji's previously released X100 with the addition of a quick Intelligent Hybrid AF, which is capable to obtaining a clear focus in as little as 0.08 seconds.

The X100S is equipped with a 16MP APS-C-sized X-Trans CMOS II sensor, an EXR Processor II image processor, a 2.8" 460k-dot LCD monitor and a built-in 23mm f/2 fixed focal length lens. It features a native sensitivity range from ISO 200-6400, and it is capable of shooting full HD video at 60fps. Pre-orders are now being accepted for GoPro's new HERO3+ cameras. The HERO3+ Black Edition is 20% smaller and lighter than the other GoPro models. It also boasts an improved lens, longer battery life and better Wi-Fi for quicker transfer speeds, and faster video streaming to mobile devices. Other upgrades include a new video mode called SuperView and Auto Low Light mode, which automatically adjusts frame rate for varying lighting conditions.

The HERO3+ Silver Edition is equipped with a faster processor (2x faster than the HERO3: Silver Edition, according to GoPro) that enables it to capture 1080p video at 60fps, and 720 at 120 fps. It is also 15% smaller and lighter than its predecessor, and features 4x faster Wi-Fi.
