Canon EOS 70D Announcement Coming July 2 [Rumor]

We've been promised several Canon EOS 70D announcements that have never materialized, but the wait could finally be over. Canon is expected to unveil the feature packed camera on July 2, according to Canon Rumors. The EOS 70D allegedly features a redesigned 20.2 megapixel sensor, a DIGIC 5+ processor and a rumored 19-point AF system called "Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus." The new AF system is reportedly five times faster than previous EOS cameras.

The camera is also expected to set the benchmark for ISO performance in Canon's crop sensor lineup, and feature HDR video. Other specs include the usual built-in WiFi, 3-inch Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD and LP-E6 battery.

Olympus is set to expand its retro-looking micro four thirds digital camera line with two new models. Details of both and photos have been leaked ahead of a rumored Friday, May 10 announcement. Below are the latest images of the E-PL6, possibly slated for a Japan-only release. This fact is not verified, however the camera will feature a 16 megapixel Live MOS image sensor coupled with the Truepic VI processing engine.

ISO equivalent range is from 200-25,600 with a maximum shutter speed of 1/4000 second. The 460k-dot built-in display will tilt up 170 degrees and down 65 degrees for greater flexibility. The E-PL6 has an in-camera RAW editing function and will snap up to 8 frames per second. Full HD recording at 30p is stored in MOV format MPEG-4AVC/H.264 video.

Digicam Info claims to have all the details on Canon's next tiny DSLR the EOS Kiss X7, or new EOS-b. The camera is rumored to feature an 18-megapixel sensor, DIGIC 5 processor, ISO 25,600 sensitivity, and 9-point AF. It appears the camera is aimed at new buyers, and not users looking to upgrade their Canon Rebel T4i.

Canon Sends Out Invites for Possible EOS 70D Announcement

Canon is expected to announce the EOS 70D in a couple of weeks. Canon Rumors published two invites for a Canon press event being held at the end of March. One invite for the Czech Republic displays a March 21, 2013 date, but unfortunately doesn't reveal what the event is about. The other shows the year "2013" with the tagline “Whole new world image” in Chinese.

The EOS 70D "will be a big step up from the EOS 60D in terms of technology", according to Canon Rumors. Previous rumors have also suggested that the 70D will replace both the 60D and 7D cameras to create a new flagship DSLR for Canon’s APS-C line-up. The 70D is expected to include more pro-features, and increased performance.

First Images of Sony Alpha SLT-A58 Leaked [Rumor]

The Japanese website Digicam Inf0 has published a few purported images of the new Sony SLT-A58 entry-level interchangeable lens camera. Sony is expected to announce the A58 along with the NEX-3N very soon. Previous rumors have suggested the A58 will sport a 20-megapixel sensor, and cost around $600 to $700.

The leaked images show the A58 will look a lot like the Sony Alpha SLT-A57, but it's rumored to feature a truly standard hot shoe, an improved dynamic range, 8 fps shooting and a new focusing system.

Sony RX1 Full Frame Fixed Lens Camera Leaked

The Canadian website Photo Price leaked an image of a new Sony camera sporting a Carl Zeiss 35mm f/2.0 compact lens. The RX1 features the same Full-Frame 35mm CMOS sensor as the alleged Sony A99 flagship camera, and is expected to be announced on September 12 (same day as Apple's big iPhone announcement) for a SRP of $2,799. The RX1 has not been officially confirmed by Sony, but if the rumor is true, it will bring DSLR-like image quality to the compact camera world. The Sony RX1 also features a pop-up flash, hot shoe, and a DSLR-like mode dial with room for custom settings.

It's believed that the RX1 is the rumored "game changer" leaked by Sony Alpha Rumors a few days ago. It was originally believed Sony would announce a new “professional Mirrorless camera” on Wednesday, September 12th.

The Sony rumor blog SonyAlpha Rumors published two leaked pictures of the upcoming Sony NEX-VG20 camcorder. The images don't really reveal anything new about this latest model, but the SonyAlpha tipster who sent the pics did include some rumored specs.

Retro-Looking Fujifilm X-E1 Pictures Leaked

Images of an unknown Fujifilm mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera have been leaked online. The Fujifilm X-E1 is being compared to the X-Pro1, the flagship model of Fujifilm's retro-looking X-family. The images reveal a pop-up flash and an electronic view finder not found on the X-Pro1. Also leaked was an image of an f/2.8-4 18-55mm lens, which was previously spotted on Fuji's X-Pro1 Interchangeable lens roadmap.

More Canon Mirrorless Camera Rumors Surface

It has been rumored that Canon is working on a new mirrorless interchangeable lens camera to be released this summer. Canon Rumors posted an update claiming that an announcement could be made in the next 30 days. Canon was originally expected to announce the camera in June, followed by a second camera announcement in September.

According to Canon Rumors, the unnamed camera will use the same sized sensor as the G1 X, and be launched with at least 3 lenses. Canon is also expected to announce a "consumer" model, and possibly a professional model at a later date. The camera could also feature a new mount but still be compatible with EF lenses.

Canon Mirrorless Camera Announcements Coming Soon

More information is now circulating about Canon's upcoming entry into the mirrorless interchangeable lens camera market, and the first of two announcements could be right around the corner. Canon Rumors reports that the first of two cameras could be revealed before summer, which is sooner than previously expected.

A second camera announcement would follow in September, if the sources are correct. The first camera has been described as an APS-C sensor mirrorless camera with image quality that approaches Canon digital SLR models. The body would ship with an 18-45mm kit lens with several other lenses available at launch.
